$$ViewTemplate\$$SearchTemplate: IE answers that it do not find the web page

Hi all,

In a few databases of ours we use $$ViewTemplate/$$SearchTemplate to let the users search for docs from web. In two of them this functions perfectly. In the third however the $$SearchTemplate do not show up when users try to search for docs. IE answers that it does not find the web page. As far as I can see all the forms and the view belonging to the search mechanism are identical in all of the databases. I have also tried fixup and updall on the database with the problem - without success. If you have any ideas please let me know. Thank you very much in advance.

Hi Jo,

What comes up on the server console when you try to access the form? There may be an error on the form that causes it not to load, you may get more information about this from console output.

Hi Andrew.

As far as I can see it behaves quite normally. Also I have deleted the $$SearchTemplate form in the sick database and copied the form from one of the others to see if that helped - again without success. One place or another I read somthing about problems when the fields are placed in a table. Have you heard about this? If this is the case I should have problems with all the databases since the forms are identical? Hoping to hear from you again …

Jo

The formula you gave me a few days ago worked perferctly. Thank you very much.

Hi Jo,

Glad the formula helped!

Kind of hard to tell whats going on here, maybe the following will help?

Are there any lookups on the form that might not be working, in a computed field or computed text?

If you create a blank form ($$SearchTemplate for ViewName) do you still get the error? If not, there is something wring in the form.

The thing you mention about fields being placed in a table, not sure what you mean I’m afraid - can you post a link to any posts that mention the issue? Do you mean using

in passthru HTML to format the view output?

Andrew.

Maybe something wrong with the $$return field?

I have tried to look it over, but can’t find anything. Text, computed for display is right?

Hi Andrew.

I deleted the $$SearchTemplate form from the database and tried to search. If I’m right I should get the view with the docs found. Again IE said that it could not find the web page. Maybe the problem is not in the $$SearchTemplate?

Hi Jo,

Please cross check the database path while you search (code on search button is pointing to the current database) . It happens sometimes when we copy & paste the things.

Let us know the results.

Hi Munish,

I wished I could say your idea was the right one. However I have now checked the path in the search button and it appears to be right. But I’m very glad I may ask you who are the chefs of the Lotus Notes/Domino community …

Hi Jo,

One more dish. Hope this one tastes good…

If you are searching using FTsearch, Please make sue that your database is full text indexed.

Hi Munish,

All dishes which are prepared by you are good tasting. This time however it did not help me much. Yes, the database is full text indexed. Now I have indexed it again, but it didn’t help. This is kind of a mystery, isn’t it?

Hi Jo,

This one has me interested. If you can’t get it solved, and if you want to, send me over a copy of the database and I’ll have a look.

Hello…

It is now solved and the problem was in the name of the form/view template “webPersonalhåndbok”.

The original name gave error in log

02/21/2007 07:15:33 PM HTTP Web Server: Couldn’t find design note - webPersonalh■ndbok [/Jo/NMPershb.nsf/webPersonalh%E2%96%A0ndbok?SearchView&Query=123*&Login]

I changed it to “webPersonalhandbok” everywhere and it’s working like a charm.

Please do this change and let us know if it works at your end too…

Hi Munish,

You are wonderful. When I substituted the strange letter ‘å’ with ‘a’ as you adviced me to, it worked wonderful. And as you know, ‘handbok’ is just as good in Norwegian as ‘håndbok’. Now I shall be able to sleep well when the night comes. Thank you very much again …
