When the message is sent to a mail-in database (folder), how to view that message? I created a mail-in database for a resource reservation folder and sent a test message there but I don’t see it there. Please help.-Fan
Subject: Viewing message in a folder
Have you created an Inbox folder in you mail-in database? If not, just copy the one from the mail template on your server and paste it into your mail-in database.
Please let us know if this solves the problem.

Emily,
Thank you so much for your help. By the way, I am new to Domino/Notes. I tried very hard to search for the know-how to ‘copy the Inbox from the mail template’ within the help feature of Domino/Notes but failed to find the solution. Would you please let me know how? Because of the complexity of Domino/Notes (at least I feel that way), would you spell out the steps along the way? I appreciate your time and knowledge.

No problem. Here we go:
-
Open the mail template in Designer. The filename is mail6.ntf
-
Open the Folders section of the design
-
Highlight the one called ($Inbox). It should have a blue arrow thing pointing to it. Copy it to the clipboard (CTRL+C or Edit->Copy or whatever)
-
Open your mail-in database in Designer
-
Open the Folders section
-
Paste the inbox folder in there.
You now have an Inbox in your mail-in database.
Hope this helps!
Emily.

Hi Emily,
Thank you again.
I followed your instruction to add the $Inbox to the Mail-in database. After the $Inbox is added, the following items are listed in the DESIGN view of the mail-in box:
-
FrameSets
-
Pages
-
Froms
-
Folders
Declined Reservation
[$Inbox]
[$Trash]
-
Shared code
-
Shared Reservations
-
Other
If I open the database, the following items are listed in the database view:
Reservations
By Date
By Reservation
Waiting for Approval
Declined
Calendar
My Reservations
Resources
Sites
I don’t see the Inbox was in the list.
I tried to send a test email to the folder, the email sent with out any error. I can see the following message in the Domino server: 2/24/05 11:46:57 AM Router: message 006ea452 delivered to Conference Room. However, again, I don’t see the email when I open the conference room database (confroom.nsf). I must had done something wrong but my knowledge limit my ability to find where and how things gone wrong. Please help.

Ok - it looks like your mail-in database uses an outline for navigation, and you have not given your Inbox folder an item in the outline. The simplest way to view your Inbox then is to go to 'View 'in the menu then ‘Go To…’ and Inbox should be somewhere in the list which appears. If it is not, hold down CTRL and SHIFT while doing the View-Go To… steps - this will show you hidden views and folders.
If you want a link to the Inbox in your navigator, you will have to add an entry to the Outline. Have a look in the designer help if you’re not sure how to do this - there’s loads of information about it.
Post back to let us know how you get on!
Emily.
