I have a user that is having problems “viewing” wordperfect attachments. When he “right clicks” on the attachment and goes to view, i get an error message saying that the file viewer can not initialize. If i choose open, it will open wordperfect and the document fine. I want to be able to just view the document and i know you can “view” wordpefect docs through the client, it works fine on my machine.

There is setttings in there for attachments.
As an example:

This is in my 5.0.12 client --I don’t have my R6 nearby, but it should be similar.

I can tell you that the notes.ini file is not the problem.
I copied the notes.ini (entire notes data directory, actually) from a working install to a non-working install and the problem persisted.
So far I have only observed this problem on Windows XP machines. Win2000 seem fine. Client 6.0.1.

What did solve the problem was giving the user Full Access (ie. write) permission to the program files folder.
In my case this means I gave Full Access to c:\lotus\notes.
This is about as annoying as the discovery that I had to give all users Full Access to the Notes shared data directory in order for a notes client to utilitize the template files stored there.
Why does Notes need write access to an NTF file in order to apply the design from that NTF? Silly.

We had the same problem for some machines (XP, 6.0.0).
Please check the keyview.ini in the Notes program directory. The entry “Home” should include the path to the program directory. But sometimes you find "Z:\not\configured\yet" inside.
On my machine Notes changed incorrect entries directly. The problem with many “standard company PC” is, that a “standard user” does not have the rights to change files under “c:\program files…”.
And that’s the reason why your change of access rights solved the problem

Just to clarify, “…'Home” should include the path to the program directory…" means the path to the Notes program directory. Or it did in our case. Problem solved and thanks for your help.

I see that this is old but the problem persists and I can’t find a solution from my LAN support, Lotus, or anyone else. I note in my keyview.ini there is no entry for wpd, although there is an entry for Wordperfect and for 5.2. 178=doc 0 kvdocve.dll ; WordPerfect
80=doc 0 kvdocve.dll ; WordPerfect 5.2
Does anyone know where these files for WP 6, 7, 8, 9 can be found to add them to keyview.ini
