When sorting the Date column, ascending, I click away to another folder (like Trash), then when back in the Inbox, the order of email is sorted by ascending again. Any ideas as to why this sort option isn’t “sticky?” It works well on other clients in my office. I’ve tried Customize this View and reviewed Database Properties…nothing just yet. Help.

After upgrading my client to 8.5.1 but still using a 7.0.2 mail template and server, it did this for every folder and no workaround that I found.
After upgrading to an 8.5.1 server and mail template, I needed to open my mail database in designer, delete the Inbox folder, and refresh the design to recreate the Inbox. Once I did this, it works fine. I also have the setting to retain view column sorting selected.

Go to:
File>Preferences>Mail
There you will see “View and folder management” section.At the bottom of that section there is an option “Automatically sort date colunms”.
Change this option to suit your needs.
