View Indexer don't stop

Hi There!

How can i stop indexing a view that no one need?

We have 2 Servers and in some big databases a few views, that are only for notes (not for browser). this views have some categories, so that the indexer takes a lot of time to compute the view.

On one of these Servers i dont need this Notes-Views, and so i switch the viewindexing to manual. Now the indexer is only triggered by a programm-doc in the domino-directory.

But every day starting araound 12 o’clock the indexer runs over these views and compute a long time… WHY DOES HE DO THAT? No one touches this views. No Agent or anything else runs over this views. Who can help?

Thanks, Bernd

only view indexes that were built once will be updated by the indexer. so delete the view indexes from the server with a compact -d and then don’t open the views in the client anymore.

IF you don’t need the view, delete it.

Bernd,

Indexing options (e.g., manual) only affect what happens when a user opens a view. They do not affect what happens when the update task runs every 15 minutes. If documents have been altered which potentially could exist in that view, then the view will be updated.

Typically, a view update takes far less than 1 second. If it’s taking longer than that, then I’d guess your problem is generally performance on the server, or that the view is exceptionally slow.

There are some articles you can read for further info on the Developer Network pages. Search for performance or use this link …

good luck,
