View.FTSearch

I’m having problems getting FTSearch to do what I’d like it to do. Any help would be appreciated. Here’s my code:

If nab.IsOpen Then

Set view = nab.GetView(“($VIMPeople)”)

	Set vec = view.AllEntries

	Call vec.FTSearch({[EmployeeID] = ""}, 0)

	Print "There are: " + Cstr(vec.Count) + " entries without Employee IDs"

End If

Notes complains, saying that the query is not understandable. I also tried FIELD EmployeeID = “” and it didn’t like that either!

Help!

Subject: View.FTSearch

FTSearch is meant for full-text search of all collected documents. You are trying to search the documents whose employeeID field value is null, but FT Search not work if you want to search for the specific field value…You should specify a string for FTSearch and it looks into all the documents whether any field value (not particular field) contains that text and it collects that document if any field contain the string value.

For your case you have to use either Getallentriesbykey or getalldocumentsbykey …remember the view should be categories or sorted

You cannot return what does not exist in a view.

Look at the notesDatabase.Search method to perform your desired task.
