View (Categorised Column) can't be hidden?

Hi.

I have this strange problem. Not sure is it a bug in LotusNotes or is it i have implemented wrongly.

I have 100 documents (eg. Phone Directory). 50 docs can be accessed by StaffA only, and 50 docs can be acessed by StaffB only. (I’ve set a reader field in the docs).

Eg. 50 Docs phone directory entries of CHINA for StaffA, and 50 Docs phone directory entries of JAPAN for StaffB.

Logically, StaffA will only see Docs which Reader field set to be StaffA’s Name etc.

At a View (eg. Categorised By Country)

Columns: Country - NAME - TELPHONE

Yes! StaffA Can’t see staffB’s documents! But it shows the categorised twistie of the “Country”! I seems not able to get rid of that?

StaffA Actually See …

CHINA

 Mr. Lim 8888888

 Mr. Lut 8888888

 Mr. Liy 8888888

 Mr. Lyg 8888888

   ............

   ............

JAPAN

 (No documents)

Malaysia

 (No documents)

Singapore

 (No documents)

Is there anyway I can get rid of those countries that Staff A not supposed to see?

THANKS!!

Hi Thanks for the response.

What I mean is, if StaffA is not reader for JAPAN, why does the Twistie appeared “>Japan” in the view, It’s relundant.

For StaffB, it has “>China” twistie appear in the view, and StaffB is not reader of china, and he should only see all twistie of what he suppose to see.

Not sure how to get rid of that?

This is the default behaviour - ‘empty’ categories still show.

However, there is a ‘don’t show empty categories’ option in the view options, third tab - never tried this, but it might work.
