Do you get an error? I’ve seen this happen a couple of times and I’ve had to edit my file types to make sure there’s an application associated with the file type I’m trying to open.

We are experincing this problem but on a limited basis There are 850+ machines here. Approx 800 of them are running XP pro and 6.5.2 the rest WIN2K and 6.5.2 The only machines experiencing this issue are the WIN2K boxes. I am going to try re-establishing the association between the file types This only started when we upgraded the clients to 6.5.2 from 5.0.11

Don’t use the “View” button in the attachment option, it is only meant as an emergency if you don’t have the application which opens the attachment. Always use the “Open” button to view/open/launch attachments.

I disagree that view attachment is only for emergencies; I use it to view MS Word docs even though I have Word installed, just because I don’t have to worry about macro viruses that way (and because it’s faster). The authoring program is not always the best choice when all you want to do is look at something.

I would call that also an emergency, if you don’t want to use Microsoft Word because you fear an virus attack.

Avoiding the use MS products as a way to reduce the risk of virus attacks, is a routine response to everyday conditions. It doesn’t have to be a file I’m especially suspicious of.
