Very new to Notes/Sametime. important questions. please help

I am very new to Sametime/Notes. Please help.

I am a home based user with one computer. I am in USA.

I would like to tell other people (my potential clients) that I can do Instant Messaging with them using Lotus Notes.

I cannot afford server software or anything like

that. Just cheap client. How much it would cost to have Instant Messaging (text) capability

in Lotus Notes along with the cost of Lotus Notes itself? I am a single user with a single computer.

Does the other party with whom I just want to do Instant Messagaing (text) need to have Lotus Notes/Sametime purchased/installed on his computer? I mean is there a web based version where the other party just go to a web link I tell them and start chattting with me right away? If so please provide me with the link URL where my potential lead can go to quickly start chatting with me.

I know Yahoo MSN and AOL are other free alternatives but I want to use Sametime/Notes for instant messaging.

Subject: Can’t be done without the server software

Sametime will always require a Sametime Server to be available somewhere. Your partners/clients/whatever can use a browser based ST client, but connecting to your server.
Notes can work without a server, but you will only be using a subset of it’s capabilities.
