Hi,We just upgraded Domino to 6.5.3 and upgrade Veritas backup to Backup Exec 10. The Backup Exec will not back up the nsf file. Can anyone help me please? Called Veritas but got no response so far.

After the fact is hard to advice, you should chack with Veritas if there are any issue with Lotus Notes Agent and Veritas before doing an upgrade, or even better do test upgrade then roll it out to production… Anyways as far as I know they working on it but there is no estimated time for fix. Temp solution for you:Instead of running the job with the Lotus Agent, run the job with Advanced Open File Option (AOFO). To do this, I would recommend the following :
1.uninstall the Remote Agent on the Lotus server from Add/Remove Programs
2.reboot the Lotus server
3.run a Silent Install of AOFO and the Remote Agent on the Lotus Notes server
To run a Silent Install, Copy RANT32 (default path \Program Files\Veritas\Backup Exec\Agents) from the media server to the root of C:\ on the remote box
From the Lotus server’s command prompt run the command C:\RANT32\SETUPAOFO.CMD
Cursor will go below what you normally see and once it comes back up the Remote Agent and AOFO has been installed
- reboot the Lotus server…
5.Verify Remote Agent for Windows Servers service is running on the Lotus server
- Remember to edit the job to no longer use the Lotus Agent to backup the Lotus server, but select to use AOFO instead
Also, what you may want to do is change idle time from default 5 sec to 3 sec
make sure you do not run any Notes programs (i.e. updall mail\ etc.) while using AOFO during backup
Hope for quick fix from Veritas
FYI I think it also apply to lates version of NetBackup from Veritas

Hi Rafal,Thanks so much for the response. I’ll give it a try. I know I should do the test first but it’s said on veritas brochure and catalogue that it’s support 6.5.X. Now I’m learn my lesson, I guess.

it is going to work make sure you select “without lock” otherwise you may run into some db corruption with OFO if Lotus Notes db is in use and backup exec is trying to lack it for backup purpose…

Hi Rafal,I did follow your instruction but when I restart the server after setupaofo.cmd installed. My Advanced Open File Option is grey out. I can not select anything. Do I need a license for AOFO? I hope not though.
and What do you mean by change idle time (screen saver?)

Under option you can change how many seconds file need to be inactive before can be backup… I think it’s Tools - Options Yes, you need to have AOFO licenses to do this, good news is since this is know issue with Lotus Notes Agent, and I’m assuming since you install/upgrade your backup software to latest version you must have valid support contract, Veritas will supply as many temp licenses for AOFO as many Lotus Agents you are licensed for.
