Good morning,
A few days ago I did enable the “Verify that local domain recipients exist in the Domino Directory:” to avoid my mail.boxes being overloaded with dead mails. The SMTP and the Router tasks were restarted. I see “Issue RCPT TO: command before DATA command” in the log so it seems to work during the SMTP handshake - or at least almost…
My understanding which this setting is - as the message says - that a check is made to verify if the user exists BEFORE Domino accepts the message!?
If this is the case don’t I understand why the mail.boxes are being filled with pending message with the Failure Reason = “host xxx[ip] said: 550 user@domain… Nu such user”.
Why am I getting those mails - shouldn’t the be rejected and not accessed by Domino when using this settings??
