Michael, COM is an older technology but should still work. I think you can use early binding by adding references to the Domino and/or Notes COM libraries by adding references to them to your project. Click Project | Add Reference, select the COM tab, select Lotus Notes Automation Objects and/or Lotus Domino and click OK to add them.
Another possibility, since you are on ND7, is to use web services. I think you can find examples of that, including accessing the address book, from last year’s Lotusphere.
The preferred way to access data in .NET is, of course, ADO.NET. A commercial ADO.NET data driver for Notes is available at Products A-Z. (Includes directory lookup functions as well as helper classes for accessing contacts.)
the easiest way is to add the Domino object to your components, project > add reference… might be, sorry got a german version. The objects name is “Lotus Domino Objects”.
Open new session:
Dim LotusSession As New Domino.NotesSession()
LotusSession.Initialize()
Open database:
Dim LotusDirectory As Domino.NotesDbDirectory = LotusSession.GetDbDirectory(“”)
Dim LotusDatabase As Domino.NotesDatabase = LotusDirectory.OpenDatabase(“names”) 'i think that might be the default-db
HiIm very new to working with notes. Im using VB.net 2005.
I have access to the DB as specified in this thread, but how can I go about reading the inbox on the local DB. I have connection to it, but what do I need to then. Also I need to be able to read directory/folders and read them also.
