Vaulted user receiving incorrect password error

Consider this a bump. Check out the “Additional Thoughts”. Anyone?

I have an ID Vault with a few people in it. Well, one of them is receiving errors with their password every time they reboot their machine. I go into the People & Groups and Reset Password until it lets them in. This is just not going to work as we move forward and I go from having 15 people in the Vault (with 1 person having problems) to 250 people in the Vault. I see nothing in the log to suggest his password had changed.

Any ideas? Thoughts? Suggestions?

Hello

Thing is just reset password does not work, since they have their ID with the old or wrong password still on the computer.

  • Reset PW

  • have User delete his local ID

  • Log in, Notes downloads ID from Vault with the New PW

Subject: That doesn’t work

And now I have another person with exactly the same problem. It’s quite unusual given that the password they use for their systems is exactly the same as their Notes IDs (yes I have Shared Login enabled as well).

My “solution” to the previous user was to remove them from the Policy and the Vault and put a regular old ID file on his local system.

Subject: Check out the Notes ID vault FAQs

There is a great deal of information on how to configure a vault server including demos, deployment examples, and lists of FAQs on the Notes/Domino wiki:

Subject: I’ve reviewed the FAQs

I’m going to reinstall his Notes Client and see what that does for me.

Subject: Additional Thoughts

If the user who is Vaulting with the Shared Login turns off their machine and may login without a network connection (using the cached Windows Domain account information), then the Shared Login uses that same password in Notes (which they are using offline), is it possible that Notes might “change” a password or Windows might alter how Notes sees that password? What does the Vault ID file authenticate with if it’s not actively connected to the server in some fashion?

FURTHER, if I were to make an ID file in the Domino Directory AND/OR as a separate file, would that help me at all?
