Hi, I have a requirement to show some field values in a view in a way so they line up and either they don’t line up or show inaccurately. I have a request form that has a MainStatus field and 4 assignee fields Assignee1, Assignee2, Assignee3 and Assignee4. I also have a corresponding status field for each assignee called Status1, Status 2, Status3 and Status4. I need to display the view like this per document:
column1
Main Status -->(twistie)
Column2 . . .| .Column3
Assignee1…| Status1
Assignee2…|. Status2
Assignee3…|. Status3
Assignee4…|. Status4
I have set the column2 and 3 to display multi values as separate entries with the new line as the separator and tried this code but the alignment is not correct.
column2 code= @Trim(Assignee1:Assignee2:Assignee3:Assignee4)
column3 code=@Trim(
@If(Status1=“”;“Open”;Status1):
@If(Status2=“”;“Open”;Status21):
@If(Status3=“”;“Open”;Status3):
@If(Status4=“”;“Open”;Status4)

Armand
Subject: values in view don’t line up correctly
Arman,
Aside from the typo Status21 instead of Status2, it looks fine. But if you have any blank values, then your @Trim will weed those out, which may mess up your alignment unless you account for it on both sides (both columns).

You don’t want to select the ‘Show multiple values as separate entities’ setting.This displays each variation as a separate line.
On the first tab for the column, set the multi-value separator as New line (as you’ve indicated you’ve done).
On the second tab for the column, turn the ‘Show multiple values as separate entities’ setting off.
On the View properties, 3rd tab, set the row height to 4, and set the Shrink to Content on.
In column 2, you’re eliminating empty spaces while in column 3, you’re replacing empty places with Open.
As a result, if you only have two valid Assignees, you will have 4 open statuses whcih is a problem.
The code for column 3 has to become dependent on the existence of the matching assignee:
column3 code=@Trim(
@If(Assignee1!=“” & Status1=“”;“Open”;Status1):
@If(Assignee2!=“” & Status2=“”;“Open”;Status2):
@If(Assignee3!=“” & Status3=“”;“Open”;Status3):
@If(Assignee4!=“” & Status4=“”;“Open”;Status4) )

Thanks for responding,
I think I did as you described and still the results are crisscrossed. Here is the view’s lay out :
Column1 is categorized, ascending, shows twisite and has the MainStatus field as the column formula.
…
Column2 is sorted, ascending, shows multiple values as separate entries with new line as the separator and has the following as the column formula:
@Trim(Assignee1:Assignee2:Assignee3:Assignee4)
…
Column3 is not sorted and has the following as the column formula:
@Trim(
@If(Assignee1!=“” & Status1=“”;“Open”;Status1):
@If(Assignee2!=“” & Status2=“”;“Open”;Status2):
@If(Assignee3!=“” & Status3=“”;“Open”;Status3):
@If(Assignee4!=“” & Status4=“”;“Open”;Status4) )
View has the row height set to 4 and shrink rows to content is checked.
Since now I don’t have new as the separator for in column 3 the view displays like this:
Open–> (Twistie)
…John Doe…Complete, Open, Open Open
…John Smith…Open, Complete, Open, Open
etc…

Armand

Make column 3 also show multiple values as separate entries, but do not sort it.

Thanks to all who responded. It is prettly close to what we wanted.
