Hi there.
I’m a recent user of Notes 8 client, and there’s one thing which is irritating me to no end, and I’m hoping I can suggest a solution as a UI change.
When I’m in the Mail window, I see the overview list of mail in my inbox, and below it I see the contents of the currently selected mail.
If the email-list frame is selected by mouseclicking it I can scroll in that frame, and if the email frame is selected by mouseclicking it, I can scroll in that frame.
- I’m used to not having to select what frame I want to scroll in, I’m used to this:
when the mousepointer is over a frame which is scrollable, and I use the scroll-wheel, the frame the mousepointer is over is the frame that scrolls up or down.
The difference:
Let’s say I get 50 emails over the day I have to find, and then read.
The current Lotus notes way:
-
move the mousepointer to the email-list frame
-
click anywhere in the email-list frame
-
scroll to the email
-
click the email I’d like to read
-
move the mousepointer to the email
-
click somewhere in the email
-
scroll in the email to read it all
- so for 50 emails, that’s 350 discrete motions
What I’d like to do:
-
move the mousepointer to the email-list frame
-
scroll to the email
-
click the email I’d like to read
-
move the mousepointer to the email
-
scroll in the email to read it all
- So for 50 emails, that’s 250 discrete motions, and only one of them a mouseclick, a 28% reduction in hand motion which means a reduction in a potential carpal tunnel syndrome, plus a smoother, faster way of working.
This function works between frames in internet browsers. For instance, I don’t have to click the page (this support page for instance) to scroll on it, and I don’t have to click in the feedback frame (where I’m writing this suggestion) on this support page to scroll in it.
any chance this could be changed? Is this the right place to come with this kind of a suggestion?
Appreciate any replies ![]()
