Is there a way I can use the doculink command to link documents outside of Notes? We are trying to reduce the size of email messages, without attaching/embedding the entire document/file.

I’m assuming the files are on a file server. You should be able to insert a URL hotspot, and then put the filepath in place of the URL. It will behave like a link in a web page – i.e. some content will display in a browser and some will prompt you whether you want to open or download.
You might also look into Domino.Doc, a product that helps you manage files in a mass storage and access them thru Domino.
Domino.Doc will not directly help you in your email file, but you can send a doclink to the Notes document which is the pointer to the file in the document repository, instead of sending out the attachment.
You might also look at shared mail, a feature of Domino that lets you centralize the storage of attachments (among other things).
Finally, you could give people a special mail form that lets them specify one or more network filepaths in a separate field and sends an email with a button that the recipient can click to shell out to the file(s).
There might be other ways I haven’t thought of.

Thanks for the response. The URL hotspot did the trick. Thank again
