Using POP3 or IMAP client to connect to Domino over the internet

Hi,I’m trying to use a standard POP3 or IMAP client to connect to a Domino server over the internet to send/receive email.

I can use iNotes to connect, send, receive, etc… so I know that connectivity is ok.

The client I need to use is both POP3 and IMAP compliant so I can connect either way. When I initially set up the client, it indicates that “Connection Successful” but then generates “Unknown Errors” when synchronizing headers and inbox.

Is POP3 and IMAP support going out of the box or do I need to start another task at the console?

Once the proper tasks are in place, do I tell it to connect to www.servername.com or www.servername.com/mail/username.nsf?

Thanks for any forthcoming help.

Regards,

You need to start both the POP and the IMAP task. Also, if you’re using Internet Site Documents you’ll have to create an Internet Site document for both.

When you have created the Internet Site documents, you tell the client to connect tot pop.servername.com and imap.servername.com if that’s what you have configured (both in Domino and in DNS).
