Using Notes without mail

We’re going to be migrating to Exchange for mail, but will still be using Notes applications for a while (we have lots of bespoke apps).

Can anyone offer any advice as to the best way of configuring the Notes client? There isn’t an option in the location document for no mail, which seems odd. For current staff they’ll still have access to their Notes mail database, so we can change them to read only on that, but new staff won’t have a Notes mail database at all.

Ideally I’d like to remove mail links and display a custom homepage, is this possible and if so is there any documentation around for doing this?

Subject: Plus now the Domino Utility Server allows the Notes browser plug-in use

If your users get rid of the Notes client and don’t use Mail/Calendaring then you don’t need client access licenses. You can use the Domino Utility Server for both web users and Notes Browser Plugin use. You might save some money here!

Subject: Thanks

I was aware of this, but to be honest hadn’t quite made the connect, just tested it and it looks to work really well

One problem - when I go to notes://home I get File does not exist. Which file is trying to open?

Subject: try notes:home

Did you mean “notes:home notes:home”? That will take you to the discover page. I found that “notes://home notes://home/” redirects to my mail file. So the error may make sense in your case since you have no mail.
