I have a Notes application I want to roll out… but the customer has no other use for the Notes client. Instead of creating User IDs (which is difficult when the customer doesn’t have a Notes administrator) is it possible to use the Notes client with their shortname/userid like an internet user?
I realise a good solution is to create a web front end for the Notes application, and then have the users connect to Domino with an internet userid and password, but that’s not a viable option right now.
Thanks in advance.
Subject: No… not unless it’s something new…
I know this has never been possible before. Unless something changed in a recent version, I suspect no. If they are already maintaining a Domino Directory for the username/shortname, however, it doesn’t seem like it would be much of a burden to go ahead and create the NotesID file at the same time.
Subject: Is there an easy way to create User IDs?
Is there an easy way to create a User ID without having to use the Administrator client? Maybe I could create a routine where a nominated person can easily create User IDs… any ideas?
