We have users who sometimes send out group emails with a local Notes domain user’s internet address in the group. The mail to the local user gets rejected with either a “user not listed in Domino Directory” message or a “551 5.7.1 Receive of data is denied” message. Is there a way to have Notes recognize a local user’s internet address and route the mail appropriately?

Thank you to all who replied. I believe the problem may have been an entry in the SMTP Inbound config. I had an entry in the “Allow messages only from the following internet hosts to be sent to external internet domains” that was “*.mydomain.com”. I removed that entry and things appear to be routing properly now.

Check also your global domain document, make sure the conversion is enabled. So even you specified an internet address of a local user, it will automatically convert to a notes format.

I think you are describing an SMTP configuration issue. Can you route any mail from Notes to the Internet? Try searching this forum.

Assuming these are groups in Personal Address Book - it should work whether they use the Notes Address or Internet Address format.
I have had a couple of situations when this happened - either the intended recipient had their internet address changed or they no longer existed.
1- Try to send a test memo to the internet address on its own to see if there are any failures.
2- Remove the recipient from the group and re-add using server’s domino directory using either Notes address or internet address.
