Hi,
We have a problem whereby when using Find Rooms in a calendar entry, the name “Meeting Room 1/CONTOSO” is entered after selection. When we move to another field, the error message “Meeting Room 1/CONTOSO not found in name & address book or any domino directory”.
However, when we use the “Rooms” link to open up the Rooms selection dialog to select directly from the domino directory, the resulting name will be “Meeting Room 1/CONTOSO (Island)@CONTOSO” Creating a booking using the Rooms link method does not generate any errors.
So I’m wondering what is the difference between using the Find Rooms button and the Rooms link at the left side of the Rooms field. And how can I resolve the error when using “Find Rooms”
Thank you.

Does it still happen if you change focus out of the field after the room is added?

As of 7.0 R&R names have the same character restrictions that users do (for the same reasons).
Your room is named Meeting Room 1/CONTOSO (Island) which contains an illegal ( and ). If you check your server console for your R&R server you should also see some nag messages from RnRMgr about it ever time it starts up or it has to rescan the dB for profiles. It will say:
RnRMgr: WARNING: The room/resource named 'Meeting Room 1/CONTOSO (Island) ’ contains illegal characters. The only valid characters are letters, numbers, ampersand, apostrophe, hyphen, period, space, and underscore.
Yes, pre-R7 you were allowed to have anything you wanted in your room names (or nearly anything) but that changed when R&R was redesigned and we started to discover all kinds of issues that these ‘bogus’ characters caused. For all of the same reasons that we do not allow them in user names, we decided to bring R&R into the mainstream and we put the restriction place.
Instead of flat out forcing you to rename the room in order to deploy and get R&R to work, we opt’d for the “nag them every time we can but let them shoot themselves in the foot” approach to the problem.
If you rename your room you should find your problem goes away.

Experiencing the same problem.Anyone an idea how to fix ?
Subject: Check your room names
and make sure you are only using ‘valid’ characters. If you check your console logs and see the “RnRMgr: WARNING: The room/resource named ‘Bad(Name)/Goes*Here’ contains illegal characters. The only valid characters are letter…” console message then that would confirm it for you too.
