Users certifcate expiration message VERY early

We have a few users who are getting the warning message that their certificate is going to expire, when in fact it is good till 2010. Can anyone point me in the direction of where the setting(s) is for when users start getting the expiration warning and how many days in advance? We are not using any Security Policy settings, which is where I originally thought it is set. Thanks.

Take a look in the certlog.nsf file. It contains the names and expirations of all users and certificates. You can’t make any changes there but you can at least see when they are expiring.

Yeah, I checked that. This it what is shows:

One of the users has 3 entries

Entry 1

Not Valid Before 9/26/2004

Not Valid After 9/27/2006

Entry 2

Not Valid Before 7/5/2006

Not Valid After 7/6/2008

Entry 3

Not Valid Before 4/6/2008

Not Valid After 4/7/2010

And he just got the warning Monday 4/7/2008 that his cert is going to expire. Very weird since it is good till 2010.

Well it looks like the warning message is for Entry #2, which is due to expire in about 90 days. I think you will have to check the user’s ID file and see what it shows, I’m wondering if the warning is from a different certificate or if the last recert wasn’t done correctly.

You can check the ID itself through the File menu, then Security. Inside that dialog will be the expiration date.

Just have the user follow the prompts for the recert. Notes knows what it’s doing - the thing is going to expire in July.
