A couple of users all of a sudden canot find their user dictionary. When they go to spell check it pops up that it cannot find it. They have no mention in their .ini file but then again neither does my admin and his works fine. Any thoughts?

Hi Stefanie, the ini should have a reference:
SPELL_DLL=ltspln50.dll
SPELL_DIR=
Check the INI and make sure these entries are listed.

They need to have a file called user.dic in their data directory. As far as I recall, this is not mentioned in notes.ini.If you do a search of their data dir, is the user.dic file there?

just checked one user’s *.ini it’s correct (although my admin does not have those lines & his works fine BTW)
The file is missing. What would cause that to suddenly disappear?

Not sure what makes it disappear, but that is the crux of the issue. I have had a few at my org that seem to randomly disappear. I find that playing about with settings under FILE > PREFERENCES > USER PREFERENCES > INTERNATIONAL > SPELL CHECK > EDIT USER DICTIONARY and so on. Sorry cannot post a gurarnteed method for recreating user.dic, as have not found one yet.
There seems to be something a little flaky about the user.dic system…
