User with mail system of none still getting email

We have some users that have left the business; and I have changed the “mail system” in their user profile to “None”.

However when an email is sent to their old email address it is still delivered to their old mail file;

Why is this; and why is the email not rejected?

Subject: you need to manually clear out fields in the person documents

Even though you changed the mail system the person documents still contain mailserver name, mailfile name, email address etc.

What you have to do is change the mail system back to Notes and manually clear the fields for email address (at least). Save the document. Change email system to None and save again.
