I have a user that is able to send an email to an outside domain (hotmail, gmail, yahoo)…but when this person replies back, the email never gets to the original sender. I have tested with gmail, aol emails. If I test with my company email, the transmission works fine, I can reply back and forth all day long.
I have checked this users Person Document over and over and can’t find anything. I changed his internet address only to have the same issue.
Subject: User NOT receiving replied to email - Please help…
Ron,
Just wondering.
Is it the case that anybody your user sends to or just this one specific user who can’t reply?.
ie If your user emails your hotmail account can you reply back to him OK?.
Does the recipient have your user listed in their Contacts List in their HTML mail. Perhaps the Reply is being addressed incorrectly because this person has an old / incorrect email address in their Contacts List.
Do you see anything in the Log that shows anything from this external person entering your domain?.
If the external person composes a new memo, by typing in the address of your user - do they get it?.
(Taking into account that they don’t have an entry for your user in their Contacts - if they do get them to delete it and send a test mail and see if that gets through)
Does this external person ever get any kind of non-delivery failure?
Finally, you haven’t got any Inbound Rules for yur domain set up that may prevent emails from this person entering your domain?.

Hi Ads, thanks for replying back. You make some very good points, most of them I have tried and should have explained better in my first post.
This appears to be effected by most outside email domains. This user has tried with his personal AOL account, I have tried with 2 of my personal outside accounts.
This user does not have me in their personal address book, when he creates a new memo he types my external email address in manually. I do receive this email in my Gmail account, but when I reply back, he never gets it.
3)I have done extensive searches in our spam, smtp and notes logs and I have no records of my “replied” emails entering our system. This almost makes me wonder if Gmail is blacklisted somewhere. But then why for his AOL and my excite emails?
4)If I go to my Gmail and send an email to him, he does get it. For some reason this issue is associated when the original email is replied to.
If I reply to his email, he never gets it and neither of us get a delivery failure notice. It’s the craziest thing, other than the Rosie/Trump spat
We have no inbound rules on the server, also I have checked this users local settings but nothing appears to be out of the norm.
I have changed his internet address in his person document, same results on replied emails.

Hi Kirsty,Yes I did check and verify the Location document…it is correct. Here is the bigger issue. This issue appears to be happening with 4 other users in the same office. Now I am really confused. Could a corrupt Location Doc. be the cause? How about a corrupt local DB being the replicate? I am throwing darts at this point.
Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated.

I think the next thing I’d try would be to isolate whether it is a local client problem or a server or beyond problem.
Borrow a machine that’s fine and switch ID’s to one of the affected users, send an email from their mail box there.
Do they get the reply?
If they don’t then you’ve ruled out corrupted desktop, bookmark, names.nsf, location documents, etc
and then I’d probably have a look at wiping out the calendar profile of the affected mailfiles.
After that I just don’t know. When you Reply, can you CC another address and see if the address looks funny. Check your message settings on the server in case there’s anything funny. Do you have an extra layer of spam protection? Is this interfering? I’m throwing darts now too, sorry…

Hi Alton,Thanks for the info. I just had the user send me an email within our office. I see the FROM header but there is no REPLY TO header in the list.
Btw, the FROM header did have the correct info.
No REPLY TO header at all…hmm, is there suppose to?
