User name change reverts to old name

I changed a user’s name on May 16th. Around June 7th, the user’s name changed back to the old name. I then changed the user’s name again, and it changed back a little later in June. I then made my third attempt to rename this user’s name. On Friday of last week, her name reverted back to the old name once again.

I found another thread in the forum that mentioned changing names with iNotes would revert back after 21 days or so, but I’m not using iNotes and have sucessfully renamed several accounts over the past year and all following the same procedure. Only this name changes back. Any ideas would be most appreciatd.

Thanks to everyone for their suggestions. I ended up working with Lotus Support on this one and in the end, I had to delete this user account and recreate it. We think maybe the person document was corrupt and the rename wasn’t completing, thus making it go back to the old name after 21 days.

Check to make sure that the Public key held in the users USER.ID matches the one held in the Server NAB (names.nsf).

If these don’t match, AdminP will not process the rename request and will recert the name change back after 21 days.

If they don’t match, get the user to post you their public key, and then paste it into their person doc in the NAB.

Hi,I found out that if you try to change the shortName, too, the rename process cannot be completed (don’t know why).

You can see the error in the corresponding request document in admin4.nsf.

Forgive my ignorance. How do I get them to “post” their public key? I see where the key is in their person document in the PNAB.

Get them to click - File → Security → User Security…

In the User Security dialog box, click -

Your Identity → Your Certificates

Then, click the Other Actions button, and select ‘Mail, Copy Certificate (Public Key)’. They’ll be prompted for who they would like to send the key to - yourself. The key will then be mailed into your inbox, where you can cut and paste it into their person document.

Thank you. I did this as you described and the keys matched perfectly.

I’ve checked her public key and it matches up with the one in her person document in the server NAB.
