User is restricted from sending mail through serverxxx/xxxdomain

All,

Just upgraded our test server to R6.51, and am working on testing critical applications.

We have a configuration document set up in R5 that sets “Allow messages to be sent only to the following external internet domains:” to our domain in the SMTP Inbound Controls and the parameter “Allow messages only from the following Internet addresses to be sent to the Internet:” set to our domain in the SMTP Outbound Controls.

This works seamlessly in R5, but I get the “User is restricted from sending mail through serverxxx/xxxdomain” when testing in R6. I take out the restrictions, and it works fine.

I have searched, and haven’t found any good material on this specific error. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Try putting the IP Addresses of the sending servers (or users) in the Router/SMTP, Restrictions and Controls, SMTP Inbound Controls, Exclude these connecting host from anti-relay checks field.

Also, since you are getting the error after putting the IP Addresses in the “Allow messages only from the following Internet addresses to be sent to the Internet,” did you restart the Router after entering the addresses?

HTH.
