Sorry to do this, but i just lost about an hour for the second time in the last week because of a really terrible user interface in the domino designer. I kept changing a javascript in the javascript header and it wasnt updating online. i was banging my head against the wall and i finally saw that “client” was selected in the form. ok, stupid mistake. i take the blame for that, but after thinking about it, it really is a very very poor UI choice in Lotus’ part.
Im really glad that javascript can run in the notes client now, but come on guys if you had to have that drop down list default to either “web” or “client” i would say 90% of the time the client for javascript is going to be a web browser. Im sure plenty of other developers have lost time on this one too.
My suggestions are:
-
Give us a preference as developers to set the default to either client or web so its always the one we use most frequently.
-
Make it an option when opening an app coded in R5 to display the web code under the “client” drop down. Right now it just displays the javascript under both…very confusing…
-
see suggestion 1. i think it solves the problem
thanks,
Eric
