User id problem during mail access through web

Hi friends,I am facing a problem that short name/user id is working perfectly during mail access through web. there are two short name/user id

abc

abc@lot.domainname.com

when I user abc as user name it does not accept the web password. But when I use abc@lot.domainname.com it accepts the web password and opens the mail. Logically it should take abc also as user name. But the same is not happening with other users whose short name/ user id are in same fasion. What could be the problem and how can I resolve it.

Check the Admin Help, the problem is described there; there are different levels how users can authenticate.
