This question is for those of you that have ever gone through a major enterpirse hierarchy change (anyone that partook in the Lotus → IBM conversion is more than welcome to chime in :-).
After testing the name change process, I found that the ‘Rename in Reader / Author Fields’ portion of the adminp process took over 40 minutes to parse through 500 (yes, only 500) various mail and application dbs just for one test id.
The enterprise server where the adminp process is running isn’t a slouch of a server by any means (Dual 3.066GHz HT Intel CPUs with 4GB of RAM / attached to high speed fiber channel drives, etc)
Has anyone out there done this in mass quantity? And, how long did the process take you? Did you do the rename process in chucks of users, or all at one time? Can I reasonably expect that the adminp process will complete before the next morning?
There has to be some economy of scale when doing large hierarchy renames, correct?
I’d also like to know, what - if any, lotuscript was required when making your changes, or if adminp was complete enough for you.
btw - this is going to be done in a pure 6.5.1 environment (client and server).
