There are several users at my organization that cannot edit attachments in any application and have the changes saved back to the notes document. It does not appear to be a security issue as I had the user edit and save attachments in their notes mail(which is manager access to them). No error messages are displayed it simply doesn’t save the data.(Yes I verified they are clicking “edit” and not open when launching the attachment. Then they save in excel or word, exit the doc, and lastly saving the actual notes document.)
I am able to edit and save attachments back to the notes document without any issues.
I have checked the message boards, looked thru the notes 8.0.2 help, and preferences options, but have not seen anything that might resolve the issue.
Has anyone seen or experienced this behavior? I’m not sure if this is notes related or something in ms office…
I have seen simiar issues when the user did not have sufficient rights to the local PC, folder wheer the temp files are saved (Document and settings\loginname\Temp\notesxxxx folder ). Eg these user are unable to forward an email with attachments , but can reply with attachments with history) Fix was to increase their local rights (eg add to local admin group).
The other issue we had was with some users opening attachments via Preview pane & only Opening them with “open” button, then editing within the application, the “Edit” Button is not available via Preview pane but is if they fully open the email.
Did you ever resolve this issue? Has anyone been able to fix it? My users have admin rights and are still experiencing this problem. Changes to embedded MS documents won’t get saved.
I had this same problem and found another post on the forum where clearing the notes temp folders was the solution. That solution fixed my problem and will probably fix yours.
Exit Notes.
Navigate to:
C:\Documents and Settings\yourprofile\Local Settings\Temp
Then delete any folders that start with “Notes” and have a unique code after it. “NotesB230J” for example.
On vista, the location is slightly different. C:\Users\yourprofile\AppData\Local\Temp
Make sure you show hidden folders before trying to do this.
