USer cant start the R6 Client eithout Admin rights

We have a few test installations of the R6 Server and Clients (6.0.1 US) and all its fine…only

If the user starts the Client without local admin rights (Win2000 SP3), then pops a message with the information “You should use a Domino Server instead a Files Server…” ???

We have installed the Client and the update with the option that not only one user is using this installation (a checkbox on the setup).

Can anyone give me a hint or a link for this problem ???

Thanks in advance for any help

download filemon+regmon from sysinternals start them with a admin user and monitor for access denied in the logfiles when you start the domino client.

The problem is that the user doesn’t have the file permissions for the domino data directory. Log back in as the administrator, find the data directory and give ‘everyone’ read/write permissions.

Hope this helps,

Declan Lynch.

Are any of the files that the client might be wanting at startup (ie names.nsf, notes.ini, etc) stored on network rather than local drives?

No, only the notes id are stored on a network share (with change permissions).
