I have one user who is unable to receive mail from a single sender. The sender has no problem sending mail to anyone else. The recipient has no problem receiving mail from anyone else. Both users are in the same domain (single domino server - no replication). Sender has absolutely nothing in their personal address book. Recipient has no rules of any kind. Sender never gets an error message or bounce back. No errors in mail.box.
Apparently this has been going on for months and no one ever noticed.

Have you looked at the Notes Log? Does the message get in and then get routed to the users mailfile? Is there anti virus involved, and is it catching the message? If you look in the users mail file, All Documents, is it there?
Hopefully one of these questions will help.

Hmmmm…
Router task / Delivery report said it delivered the message and no rules.
Two things come to mind -
-
Perhaps the owner of the mail file has created an agent to “specially” handle messages from the originator. Try using Designer to look and see if there any agents running on mail file ower’s database.
-
disappearing rules - check the design of the database to see if there are two (Rules) objects listed in the “folders” area of the design of the database - if you see two (Rules) objects listed and look at the “last modified by” column - if one object owned by the mail file owner’s username, chances are that they are creating rules which disappear immediately after saving them, yet continue to stay active. If this is the case, you can create a view in the mail file to select documents based on the “Mailrule”. When creating the rule, inherit it’s design from “Blank” and use the view selection formula of:
SELECT Form = “Mailrule”
Hope this helps

No user defined agents and no extra rules.I created a view with the select form = mailrule and the view was empty.

Nothing in the log. I have uninstalled norton from the users workstation - still nothing.

Out of curiousity – does the non-recipient’s last name begin with the letter “G”?

Okay Stan, now I am curious as to why you asked that question. If I am missing something very apparent here, please pardon my ignorance.

Sorry it’s an “R”

Maybe the message originator can attach trace to the next message they compose to send to the recipient and then you can review the results of the trace. If this does not yield useful results, perhaps you can enable Mail Tracking Collector (MT Collector or MTC task)and see what is happening to the message.

Result of Trace Entire Path
Your trace: Do not delete 233

I enabled Mail Tracking and can see data related to the message sent. However, I do not really understand how to read this db to know if there is an answer or hint in the results.
