When I look at “User Activity” under the database properties “User Detail” it doesn’t give me what I would expect. For example if I just open a database and then go to the User Details, it shows my name with a “write” where I would expect a “read”. If this is correct how would I get an accurate read of who is actually editing in the database vs someone who just opens the database. I looked at help and it does not answer my question. Thanks for any help!!

What database did you open where it showed a write?
Try opening log.nsf and see what it shows…

Writes aren’t uncommon and shouldn’t be too surprising; often a profile document or a (mostly) hidden user document is used in preference to an environment variable either to move values between language environments or to act as a sort of “cookie”, and creating the document if it doesn’t yet exist on database open isn’t out of the ordinary. (There is far less likelihood of a naming collision when a document is used as the store.) User logging is also a possibility.

Getting old - meant to ask - ‘Are you sure that it didn’t do a write?’ - following the same logic that you mentioned.

It does this on any database that I open. I simply open a database and close out of the database. I look at the user activity and it show my name as a “write”.

Hi…Normally if you just open a Mail database and close it will show a read count of 3.Generally its between 3-5.Even you have not read a single document.Depend on the views you open read count will increase. But Its really strange how a write count appear under your name.
Cheers !!!
