Urgent upgrade to domino 9

Hi,

We had a working stable set-up with Domino 8.5.3fp1(6 domino servers). One of them is with traveler 8.5.3 for our Z10 and Q10 smartphone. A week ago, they release a new phone os and that update ruined it for us. Now Z10 and Q10 users can’t reply to e-mails. The answer is to upgrade to traveler 9.

The os is windows server 2003 32 bits. I know it’s not supported, but we need to do something quick(I"ve read a lot of success story with domino 9 and windows 2k3).

We need to do a quick move, would the following work?

Update the traveler server to domino 9 WITHOUT updating the directory structure, then update traveler 9. We want to do a quick move without disrupting anything, and we’ll plan our move more carefully for the rest of the servers. (Probably begining of 2014)

Thanks for your help!

Subject: In theory should be fine…

I’ve upgraded to Core Domino 9.0 on Windows Server 2003 32 Bit just fine… I’m not aware of any Traveler problems either, just most internal and deployment testing was on Windows 2008 64 Bit and Windows 2012… As far as not upgrading the directory design to 9.0… Again, for core, as long as you are not trying to enable any Domino 9.0 features that require Domino Directory Design be at Version 9.0 you should be fine… Again, can’t speak for Traveler requirements on the directory but same would apply… If you find something is required for core or Traveler you could temporarily disable replication on the directories on your Traveler servers and apply the Directory template if you don’t want it to replicate out just yet as one option… Obviously lots of other ways to skin a cat if you wanted to not allow the directory design to replicate in your Domain, but just offering up the quick and dirty one of disabling replication on the traveler server.
