ID Vault is working well. I thought I heard that ID files will automatically sync into the mail file for Inotes users. I can manually execute the sync but it doesn’t seem to be populating the ID file for users automatically whose ID (I’ve confirmed) is in the vault. Is that something I can configure or must I tell the users how to self execute?
Subject: Yes, you can…
In the Security Policy - ID Vault tab:
Field: Allow Notes-based programs to use the Notes ID vault
Description: Set to Yes to allow iNotes users to use the Notes ID Vault to back up their Notes ID. If this feature is enabled, the user preference “Synchronize Notes ID with Vault” displays in iNotes security preferences.
See the Lotus Administrator Help Topic “Using ID vault with Lotus iNotes->Creating Security Policy…” for more info.
Subject: That’s close…
But don’t I still have to tell the end users to enable that preference? Maybe there’s a server side ini parameter out there someplace to make it happen automatically.
Subject: Policy setting, then on-demand
Once you enable this feature through the policy setting mentioned earlier in this thread, the ID will be uploaded from (or sync’d between, or downloaded from) the vault to the mail file, either when the end user hits the button mentioned earlier in this thread, or when as secure mail operation is performed. The first time a user sends signed mail or reads encrypted mail, the vault transaction will occur.
Subject: Interesting…
I imagine the “secure mail transaction” you refer to must happen in the Inotes, not the native client. Is this in the documentation?
