Upgrading Domino Via Remote Access

I am trying to upgrade some of my Domino server via remote access. One went smoothly. On a couple others, I am getting Data Access or Media errors. I am upgrading from 6.5.3 to 6.5.6 and have downloaded the file to the server desktop. Nornally I can get around this error by booting the server in Safe Mode, but I want to do these upgrades remotely, so I’m not there to bot the servers in to Safe Mode.

Is there another way around these errors?

Send a new copy of the installation files to the server(s), and store them in a temporary directory.

I’ve done the last 3 or 4 of my upgrades to all my servers remotely, and have never had a problem.

If you’re seeing Media Error messages, that’s usually indicative of a file system problem (or is it possibly reading from CD?)

I usually start my upgrade by ending the server, setting the Lotus service to ‘manual’, and rebooting the server. Now i have a clean boot, and no services are running. Then i start the installation, usually following the checklist in the latest Redbook.
