We are going to upgrade our BES server (2.2.4.6) residing on 6.52 Domino server to version BES 4.0, Is it a simple upgrade? Are their any gotchas? Do I have to migrate the BES Users to R4 BES version or does the upgrade do this automatically? Is password managment now centralized? Can a unit be remotely wiped out if a users reports his/her handheld lost/stolen?

It is a simple upgrade. follow the insruction from Blackberry on how to upgrade your server.
Make sure you backup bes and State direcoty. leave everything there and run the install. It should find the current server and upgrade the software.
restart the Domino server and the bes dbs shuold be upgrade.
