Upgrading application server before hub/admin server

Does anyone know of any issues in upgrading an application server first before an admin/hub server? Our situation is that we are on 4.5 and will be upgrading/consolidating 20 servers from R4.5 to 6 within a 2 month period. We have decided to Not replicate the design of the Domino directory to avoid any UNK issues between R4.5.2 and ND6. The problem is we are behind schedule and have an app server that needs to be upgraded to 6 by the end of March. The reason for this is for code requirements for the back end for MQ series (needs R5 or ND6). We are not implementing any 6 features and will still be using R4 clients for development.

My question is normally you would upgrade the admin server and admin requests db first. If we upgrade the app server first, will this cause adminp problems? Should we leave Admin Requests at R4 until the admin server is upgraded?

The admin server is also the hub server/SMTP MTA and has connections to MS Exchange, so we are not in a position to upgrade it before the deadline.
