Upgrading 6.5.5 to Domino 8.0.1

Hi all,

we want to upgrade first, the domino server (mail and applications) to Domino 8 and gradually the notes clients after upgrade the server, but i don’t know if this can causes issues, for example after installing in 10 notes clients, we need to execute load convert task in these mail databases, but what happens about the designer task in notes.ini? what’s your recommendation? The designer task should be ommited? or ir better wait until all notes clients are updated…

I upgraded my pc to notes 8.0.1 client, admin and designer. Then two days later I upgraded the server, and then started upgrading clients using smart upgrade. You shouldn’t have any problems although I’m confused about your reference to the designer task in the ini file. Why do you think that is a problem?

DO NOT upgrade the mail file templates before upgrading the user’s Notes 8.x client

Replace the design of any database/mail files with any new Notes 8 design changes last. For mail files, the Convert command should be run on the Domino 8 server to upgrade the design of the mail file. Do NOT use the Designer task to upgrade the design of the mail file.
