We upgraded our testing server to R65 and none of our users could log in as they have been with their short name (firstinitial & lastname). We tried logging in using the full hierarchical name firstname lastname/domain as the log in name and we get in. Is there some easy way to change it to use the shortname again, so we don’t have to train the users?
Subject: Upgrade to R65 now requires login name to be fullname not shortname? Why?
If you check the forum you will see much explaination on this. These posts do have the answer to this question.
Here an URL to get your started on results of the short name topic:

In the server document, under security tab there’s an option under Internet Access called Internet Authentication.
Set it to “More name variations with lower security” and you should be fine.
Subject: More names variations works, but in 6.01 it worked the other way.
Under 6.01 CF2 it was working fine with the higher security setting in this field. Just by upgrading to 6.51 it decided to not let anyone in with their shortname with this same setting.
Although using the higher security setting allows anyone to use their fullname or any alias listed to log in with.

All that really means is that security in 6.02 wasn’t working as well as it should - and it now does in 6.5.x
