When do I use Upgrade Notifications feature vs. using the Smart Upgrade feature?
I want to send out an upgrade from 6.0 to 6.0.1.
I see that there are options for upgrading mail files and clients within the Upgrade Notification and assume that is used for major upgrades only (R5 to R6)and I should be using the Smart Upgrade DB for minor upgrades/code fixes?

Andrew,Upgrade Notification can be used for either Major upgraded or minor ones.
SmartUpgrade is ONLY for minor ones such as 6.0 → 6.01
The main difference is… SmartUpgrade requires NO USER INTERVENTION. Yup… no buttons for them to press or not press.

I am trying to do upgrade by mail notification to upgrade users from 5.x to 6.01. The upgrading of the software works, but when the user goes back to do the second half of the upgrade. Upgrading the design of the mail file to the mail6 template the user receives an error that says “unable to locate program”. I am getting the same type of problem except that when my users click on the upgrade button they are getting the error message “You cannot quit Notes while the dialog is active. Switch to Notes first and close the dialog” and THEN the error message “Unable to locate program”.
Has anyone bypassed these error messages??? Please help!

try this : I had a third party compression tool (say beta) which sometimes opened dialog not on top of the desktop…so some workaround went : before!! the prompt, size the Notes window very small to be sure you can access the dialog with the mouse (ALT+TAB do not work here)…to see what it is…to understand what goes wrong…
My users are not prompted any idea??
