Hello,We are preparing to upgrade our Domino servers from 7.0.3.1 to 8.5.1 .
I had planned to upgrade the Domino Directory when I upgraded the first server (admin server) and let it replicate to it’s cluster mates and other servers. Now after further reading I have concerns on how long this will take.
We have about 9500 person docs and 8 Domino servers, including 2 that are clustered with the admin server.
Anyone have any input on this?
Thanks much.
Subject: Turn off replication and cluster tasks
I’d recommend stopping the replicator and cluster tasks on the admin server while upgrading the directory. Once the upgrade is complete, replicate the directory to the other servers and then start the replicator and cluster tasks.
Subject: Thank you for the feedback
Does anyone have an estimate as to how long it might take? Or can share how large their NAB is and how long it took? Thanks.
Subject: Do it now.
This is a pretty typical process for upgrading. I’ve been running the 8.5.1 pubnames.ntf on my production 7.0.3 servers for months. Just put it in on a Friday night and let it update/replicate all the way around, view indices and all. Then that part will be in place for the actual upgrade of binaries.
