Upgrade Multi-user Install?

Does the pre R8-style multi-user install go away with 8.5.1?

I went to upgrade a client machine from 8.5 to 8.5.1. It properly located the Notes directory but when I launch Notes it acts as if it’s a brand new install; doesn’t seem to see the Data directory in C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Lotus.

Can I just copy the contents into the Data directory within the program directory?

Subject: Check Location

Check the location

c:\documents and settings\Local Settings\Application data\IBM\Lotus\Notes

You may find that your installation created this new location and it is now not using the old one.

Subject: Thanks, but no

No, it did not create a second IBM\Lotus\Notes folder in Application data.

I’ll open a case with IBM.

Subject: Symantec Issue

The reason for the second and I might say Hidden location is a bug between some versions of Symantec AV and Notes 8.5.X

Subject: Multi User Settings Modifications

In a similar type upgrade we noticed that Multi User Registery was default setting to 0 rather than 1.

Also you might want to check your Notes.ini file to make sure that it is set to the right directory. (directory=r:\data)

Also, we have a shortcut on the icon so that it tells you where to find the notes.ini file…We run a script to state where to open the notes.ini from.

Subject: Uninstall/reinstall fixed it

Per IBM support I uninstalled Notes; then did a re-install. The clean install prompts for multi-user and that found all of the user’s settings and databases intact.
