Upgrade from Domino 7.0 to 8.5 (incl. OS upgrade)

Hello.

We are planning to upgrade from our Domino 7.0 to the latest version.

Current situation is:

a) OS is Windows 2000 Server

b) Domino version is 7.0

c) LEI 7.0 is running on the same server

d) Document Manager 7.0 is installed in this server

The upgrade path we are going to follow is:

  1. upgrade Windows 2K to 2003

  2. upgrade of Domino 7.0 to 8.5

  3. upgrade of LEI

  4. We will leave Document Manager as is since we will be migrating to Quickr later

My questions are:

  1. Has anyone ecnountered problems with the OS upgrade?

  2. Never done an OS upgrade before, but I guess I will have just to throw the disc in and let the Windows installation program do the rest, right?

  3. Will the older version of LEI run on Domino 8.5 or do I have to upgrade LEI immediately after Domino upgrade?

  4. Can Document Manager 7.0 can run on Domino 8.5?

I am sorry for the long list of questions, but I cannot afford taking the server off-line for too long and just want to plan everything as detailed as possible.

I’m in the same situation. I’ve asked to IBM about Document Manager 7.0 and this is the answer:

"The Lotus Domino Document Manager product is not supported on any version of Domino or Notes R8.0.x or R8.5.x. You might be able to install and get it to work but it would be a totally unsupported environment if problems occur. As long as you keep Doc Mgr on an R7.0.x server and use the supported Browser or Notes Clients (IE6 or Notes 7.0.x) then it could continue to operate. Technote 7002980 has the matrix of compatible client and server versions that are supported for Doc Mgr. If you want to run Doc Mgr it will need to stay on R7.0.4 server or lower per the technote.

There are no plans to make the product usable on ND8.0.x or ND8.5x. The product has been given an End of Life and is no longer sold. All support will stop in Sept 2012."

I have the same situation as you except that the domino doc servers are already on win2003 en version 7 but what i read is that the client side has to be on 7 not on 8.5.We need to upgrade ower notes 5 server also to 8.5.Thats why i ask can i use then 8.5 client for the Domino Doc application.

Have you installed Domino on Windows 2003 from the beginning or have you upgraded the OS having Domino already installed?

Can you tell me your experience on that (or anyone else’s that has done an OS upgrade)?

If you read with atention my previous post, it said:

The supported Notes Clients are Notes 7.0.x
