Upgrade from 5 to 6 - Rename names.ntf... Why?

Hello,

I’m about to upgrade the first server in our Domain from 5.0.8 to 6.0.2 CF2. I have been reading through the Red Book on Domino upgrade:-

http://www-12.lotus.com/ldd/doc/uafiles.nsf/docs/Domino6PR2/$File/upgrade.pdf

and starting on page 65 it talks about upgrading the server and Domino Directory at the same time. All’s good until it start talking about ‘Create you own Master Template and call it pubnames.ntf’, replicate this new template to all the new servers’, then do the upgrade from CD.

Then before you restart the server ‘rename the appropiate template (pubnames.nsf)’.

Why do I have to do this? I don’t see any benifits to it, or am I just missing something?

Many thanks for your help

I think they are talking about installations where the names.nsf has been modified…Can’t remember us doing that during the upgrade, so just forget about it if you haven’t modified the design of the public addressbook yourself.

cheers,

Tom

I have, but they are only a couple of extra Views for users by server, which I don’t mind loosing anyway.

Thanks for the response… and, here goes!
