Hi all:The OS of domino server is win2k. now I want migrate win2k to win2003, and upgrade my domino 5 to 7. after migrated the OS to 2003.
my question is:
1)install domino 5, then install domino 7 (retain some old data of domino 5).
2)or install domino 7 directly (is clean).
the best way is method 1 or 2 ? or exist other risk ? why?
another question:
when upgrade ODS 41 to ODS 43,
Each database will have twice as many view indexes.
Database size will increase.
how much the rate is ?
thanks.
Subject: Upgrade Domino 5 to 7 directly
Hi,
When I perform server hardware migrations and upgrades I would always perform in this order :
-
Install Existing (old) version on new server
-
Copy data files and NOTES.INI etc from old server to new server
-
Swap IP addresses Old and New server
-
Start new server to ensure it’s working OK in old Domino version
-
Shut down new server and upgrade to R7
-
Upgrade ODS
Hope this helps,
Steven.

yes, you are correct.but I want to know: this way(method 1) maybe exists some old data of domino 5, and how to know/delete/reset them?
install domino 7 directly on new server, is it ok?
thanks again.

Hi,
You don’t have to worry about the old R5 files. They will either be removed or replaced. You should have a look at an R7 upgrade guide beforehand though.
