Upgrade By Email Question

One gripe first - People posting messages here need to invest in a dictionary and/or take 2 seconds and proof read their posts before posting them. Spelling correctly makes finding answers to questions, others may have, a lot easier.

ANYWAY:

Is there a way to NOT let the “upgrade by email” process set Notes as the default email client?

I’m not using a transform file, all I’m doing is putting the network drive path to the setup files in the “upgrade by email” email.

I did make this 1 change to the setup.ini

CmdLine=/qb+

I tested the process with a co-worker, the install went smoothly, but it set Notes as the default mail client, and we use Outlook as our default.

Is there something I can add/change in the setup.ini file regarding the default mail client?

Thanks,

Chad

p.s. we’re going from 6.5.1 to 6.5.5 if that makes a difference in someone’s answer

Set the property USENOTESFOREMAIL=1 on the command line. Since you are using the setup.ini, change your CmdLine setting to be:

CmdLine=/qb+ USENOTESFOREMAIL=1

and it should do what you desire.

Jeff,

Should it be

USENOTESFOREMAIL=1 if I want Notes to be the default mail client

AND

USENOTESFOREMAIL=0 if I DO NOT want Notes to be the default mail cleint

I added USENOTESFOREMAIL=1 to the setup.ini and sent an upgrade email to a co-worker. The setup process is still setting Notes as the default mail client.

We do not want Notes as the default, we want Outlook to remain the default.

Oh sorry, I completely failed at reading comprehension there huh?

Yes, I believe that setting USENOTESFOREMAIL=0 should prevent it from being set at the default mail client.
