Currently have a 6.5 server running on LINUX. Would like to upgrade this to an 8.5 server on LINUX 5.3.Was going to first install a new 8.5 server on to the current domain and replicate all data bases and Directory to the new server. Then bring the old server down, copy it’s Server ID and INI file, and IP address to the new server. This way, when I start the new server, it will come up with the old servers name, have all the data from the old server, so it will now be running with the old server name but be on the new hardware and new 8.5 software.
Does everyone agree this is a valid procedure? Are there any suggestions as to what I may be missing or if this is not a good technique?
THANK YOU!!!
