I need to migrate my Lotus Domino server which is on the version 7.0 to 8.5 on windows 2003 platform. Can someone help me with the steps required / checklist.

Subject: Suggestion for 8.5.1 upgrade
Generally,I would throw up a test server in the same domain then disable design replication on databases like the NAB, Admin4.nsf, etc. built of 8.5.1. Then put some Users on it and see if you have any issues but don’t upgrade the version of the mailbox ODS quite yet. Oh precursor backup, backup, backup. So then if you have some type of acceptance server put many more users on it for acceptance testing and upgrade it. This time allow NAB, admin4.nsf etc. to replicate out. Steady State. Once this has calmed down and there are no issues I’d upgrade the HUB server if you have one. Steady state. Concurrently, while this is going on I would upgrade the Development test box and have the Developers testing their code and get acceptance/write off on their apps. Then I would upgrade mail servers. Steady State Then, upgrade the application servers. Finally when all is said and done on upgrading I’d update the ODS for Notes on all servers. I hope this helps.

I am using only mailing services on Domino. Plus don’t have multiple servers for testing and acceptance.
Can take backup on SAN. It would be a great help if you could help with the detailed steps for migration. DWA on 7.0.2 is very slow and many users are not able to connect using dial up. Getting extended downtime is also a challenge.

Do you have a HUB or what is your basic server layout? Hub and Spoke? How many servers? Pass thru etc?

I had that issue at another client site. Two doctors husband wife team both heads of their departments insisted on keeping dial-up. Go figure. Anyways, then need to use DWA Lite. It’s a setting on the web client in the upper right hand corner.
